Beach_copertina

On a typical Italian midsummer day all you need is a beach umbrella with some beach chairs, an acquaintance form the beach and maybe a book or cocktail in your hand. For the not so young anymore a card game (gioco a carte) is a must as well as a bocce game. But we rarely can embrace this vibe and be part of the perfect summer day in Italy so we decide to do as they do and get along with what they like, just to experience it all! So after a few hours of sunbathing and witnessing a gioco a carte we all gather our things and go home (a two minute walk from the beach) for a gorgeous abundant lunch, we order a special spaghetti allo scoglio take away from their favorite place. We then skip the other courses and go straight to a good Italian espresso. Later in the afternoon, refreshed and ready for some more sunbathing we go back to our spot on the beach and we really want to go with the flow so we put our team hat on and get started with the bocce. Italians vs almost Australians, girls vs boys and to finish off neighbor vs neighbor! Simply hilarious, and I have to say my last bocce game before this was on 1999…

Defeated but happy (as I was in 1999) I decide to get home with the girls (mother-in-law and sister-in-law) and start preparing dinner. After another too abundant meal it’s time for a family movie to end our super tiring day at the beach. Thank you summer and thank you bocce.
